My Journey with LPR
I’m Tina, a dedicated LPR (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux) researcher and advocate. For over 3 years, I’ve personally managed my own extremely distressing and life-altering reflux. Although I don’t have formal medical training, I’ve immersed myself in understanding LPR and reflux through a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach.
My Extensive Reflux Research
My quest for knowledge has included:
- Reading 10 books on digestion and reflux
- Completing a 6-week course on digestive issues, including reflux management, led by an expert MD
- Analyzing countless primary medical studies during thousands of hours of research
- Consulting numerous doctors, including two leading U.S. reflux authorities, Dr. Jamie Koufman, and Dr. Jonathan Aviv.
- Exploring diverse treatment approaches with several alternative medicine MDs
Practical Experience with Reflux Management
Additionally, I’ve gained practical insights through:
- Working with two leading nutritionists for 18 months, focusing on dietary strategies
- Investing thousands of dollars in supplements, medical devices, specialty foods, and appointments
- Conducting extensive personal experiments with lifestyle modifications, sleep strategies, and dietary changes
- Using AI-assisted research to explore thousands of LPR-related questions
My Commitment and Belief
Through this journey, I’ve explored a wide range of treatments, from conventional medicine to alternative therapies and cutting-edge research. Now, I’m committed to sharing my experiences and insights to help others facing similar challenges with LPR and reflux.
I strongly believe most people can heal from reflux. However, it requires significant discipline and knowledge. Although I’m not fully healed yet, I’ve improved enough to stop medication several times. Each setback taught me valuable lessons.
Moving Forward
Currently, I’m working on maintaining the discipline needed to apply all I’ve learned. My ultimate goal is complete healing, which remains an ongoing challenge. In the meantime, I’ve learned to manage my reflux and the nutritional deficiencies resulting from a limited diet and antacid use.
